EIP & APIM VNETs Vwan Migration (Peering Part ) February 7, 2024, at 23:00:00

Presentation of the Change:

Over the past two years, our organization has successfully implemented the Virtual WAN (vwan) infrastructure, ensuring a robust and scalable network environment. However, certain projects, specifically EIP and APIM, have remained connected to the legacy network due to dependencies on the old Tunnel VPN infrastructure.

This change involves migrating these remaining projects (EIP and APIM) to the new vwan infrastructure. All VPN tunnels were transitioned to the new infrastructure in December 2023, paving the way for the migration of connected projects and the subsequent decommissioning of the legacy network.

We are initiating a planned migration of EIP and APIM VNET projects to our upgraded Virtual WAN (vwan) infrastructure.

Maintenance Details:

  • Scheduled Date and Time: February 7, 2024, at 23:00:00
  • Maintenance Window: 1 hour

Purpose:

The primary goal of this change is to enhance the overall network infrastructure by migrating EIP and APIM VNET projects to the updated vwan setup.

Scope:

Approximately 19 Virtual Networks (VNETs) will be involved in this migration.

Expected Impact:

There may be a brief connectivity interruption (less than 5 minutes) for the associated VNETs during the migration process.

Benefits:

The migration is designed to bring about improvements in security, ensure high availability, and enhance the overall observability of connectivity.

Rollback Plan as a Possible Feature:

While rollback is possible, it should be noted that the migration has already been successfully completed for a sandbox environment in December 2023 without any issues. A backout plan involves returning to the legacy network, but we are confident in the success of the migration based on the prior sandbox environment transition.
